Yesterday Suzanne took me to see the wonderful city that is Brisbane. We drove up to Kangeroo Point and looked over the City, with the River dividing the two. We then went for a mini drive round the city, so I could see the Bridge, the Gabba and some of the areas around the city.
We then took a City Cat ferry into town - This was a high speed ferry similar to the one along the Thames, only with better weather. It was a very pleasant trip, seeing all the greenery and suburbs before approaching the city and it's massive building and skyscrapers!
We then went for a wander around the city on foot and Suzanne showed me the City Centre, which was awesome - the Outdoor Bars, Cafes, Restaurants and shops, as well as numerous Shopping Malls. It was good going round as She was pointing out all the flood levels from last year which made it quite remarkable there was little ronni evidence
We came back from town a little later after lunch and a drink on the Beautifully Sunny South Bank. This is when I met Matthew, Suzanne's Son, for the first time since I was about 14. I also met his girlfriend and we all had a lovely beef Dinner - complete with Yorkshire Pudding and Gravy! Beats Pasta hands down...
Today (Monday) Suzanne Showed me the Gold Coast. We stopped firstly at Surfer's Paradise (which is now extremely commercial with high rises along the front) but still very nice with an awesome beach. We then Stopped at Broad Beach, catching the monorail from the Casino to the Beach Front before having Lunch and Currimba Surf Club, Which is built on the beach with views across the bay to Surfers. Absolutely Gorgeous.
To top it off Suzanne, Matthew and I went to the Famous Breakfast Creek Hotel for dinner, where you pick your own steak (much like you would your lobster) and then it's cooked for you - best steak I've had in a while let me tell you! Thoroughly recommend it!
Off tomorrow, leaving for Byron Bay, although as yet no hostel booked...I'm sure it'll be fine....
